Revisiting Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

And following The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, rewatching The Rise Of Skywalker after three years avoiding it. Without the weight of expectations and knowing what’s coming, I can appreciate the handful of things I liked. Most of the emotional hits that work are pure nostalgia, many powered by John Williams taking motifs from across the saga. C-3PO’s sacrifice almost works, though I know how it works out. It certainly works better than the Chewie’s Fine Actually cliffhanger.

But, urgh, that start. Especially with a silent montage that they could have at least put Palpatine’s message over, instead of making it an online exclusive premiered in Fortnite.

Anyway, here’s mum:

(Rey steals a boat.)
Like she said, she was in a hurry!

Must be fantastic material that suit of hers is made of, it always stays pure white.

Whatever happened to the Ewoks? The Ewoks never reappeared. I liked the Ewoks, they were cute.
(And they do appear!)
Yay! Ewoks! Yay! I thought they’d forgotten about them.

Is there an end bit after the credits? Which films do those?
(Not these. Promise.)
Promise? Are you sure? Are you really sure?
(Did that not seem like The End enough?)

It’s ridiculous how many people it takes to make one of these films. Look at them all! And these are just the extra extras... these are probably the modelmakers...
