Black Mirror season four

People have already watched and reviewed all of Black Mirror S4.

USS Callister is unsurprisingly getting the most geek attention, as the big feature-length (hour and a quarter) episode, labelled episode one, and about something that looks a lot like Star Trek.

And hey, I guessed the obvious twist which is revealed after four and half minutes. Go me. You probably guessed it too if you saw the episode trailer.

In RPG terms, it’s about being stuck with a really bad GMPC.

It could also be read as a comment on creators like Gene Roddenberry who come up with amazing worlds people want to live in... and sometimes use them to hit on guest stars.

ArkAngel takes sense-recording and editing implants, seen in the likes of The Entire History Of You and White Christmas, and ups the “aaaaargh” factor by having a parent put one in her daughter’s head in hopes of protecting her.

Crocodile also had memory recording leading to all sorts of kerfuffle.

Hang The DJ is being called this year’s San Junipero because it’s about online dating and isn’t totally horrible.

Metalhead could easily be a standalone short film I could see airing at horror festivals, a black and white fight to the death with something inspired by the terrifying work of Boston Dynamics.

Black Museum is... okay, USS Callister isn’t a parody of Star Trek, but Black Museum is kind of a parody of Black Mirror. Which is sort of fun. If horrific.

And of course, let us hope these don’t come true.
