PC groups for games I would do with different systems
Buffy The Vampire Slayer with ICONS Assembled Edition
I was always going to start here.
I’ve run Buffy for years, and used Cinematic Unisystem for a few other settings too.
A superhero game for a plain-clothes superhero kinda setting.
ICONS is a pretty light 2D6-based superhero RPG influenced by the original Marvel Super Heroes. Using the second Assembled Edition as the first edition PDF isn’t available separately.
It defaults to random character generation, though it has a points-based option. 45 points each, 1 point per for Attributes, Powers and Specialties, Extras 1 per point of the base power, Limits countering that cost.
1a: Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Buffy Summers, high school sophomore and, as of a few months ago, Vampire Slayer.
Origin (note that origins are for random creation, so including what would fit for the record)
Birthright
Attributes
1-8 spread as standard, 6 is peak human, and points-based characters can have one at 9 or 10.
Prowess 6
Coordination 6
Strength 7
Intellect 3
Awareness 4
Willpower 5
Powers
2-5 on the table, adjusted by Origin
Precognition 1
Regeneration 1
Resistance (Mental) 2
Specialties
Skills and other non-power abilities, rated 1-3. For random characters a 2d6 table provides 1-4 of them.
Athletics 2
Investigation 2
Leadership 1
Martial Arts 3
Occult 1
Stealth 1
Weapons 2
Devices
Items that contain powers
Slashing Weapon (stakes, swords, etc.)
Shooting Weapon (crossbows, throwing knives, etc.)
Qualities
Aspects - in the first edition you could have separate good and bad ones, but now they’re all meant to be sources of both help and trouble, which I think makes it trickier to come up with. So a bit of a houserule to have a neutral one, a mostly good one and a mostly bad one.
The Chosen One
She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness
I have both been there and done that
Stamina (Strength + Willpower) 12
Determination (basically Story Points, characters with fewer powers get more) 3 (or 4 as Birthright grants an extra power)
Extras and Limits
These let you switch out powers, add abilities to them, or limit them which gains other advantages.
None
“I’m the slayer, ask me how!”
