Apparently the Russo Brothers think next Monday (the Monday after the second weekend) is when this is okay, which is a fair cutoff. But I just saw that after putting this up, so, eh. Also, this is my gaming blog, it’s kind of a geeky space.
FIVE YEARS LATER
A flash-forward is one of the classics. Although nobody gets an eyepatch - they did that to Thor already, and he goes Allfather-y in another way, Tony gets the reason to preserve this grim future, Hawkeye gets the scary future version, and the Hulk reveal undercuts the expected return in a funny way.
Universe saved by rat stepping on button. (Edit: Or mouse, apparently. How Disney.)
Scotland! Though not playing Scotland this time. But with Irn Bru. (And Valkyrie, Korg and Meak, who survived Infinity War offscreen as they presumably would have clashed tonally.)
After the grim Infinity War epilogue bit, Ant-Man arrives, bringing a lot of Ant-Man tone with him as our heroes bumble through various time travel problems, and the Back To The Future Part II sneaking around in the background of some classic scenes.
Tacos join shawarma and cheeseburgers (and optionally deep fried kebabs) on the menu.
A lot of big laughs once the plan gets going. “That’s America’s ass!”
And then the Ancient One arrives. And then so many more. It goes so much bigger than expected.
And Cap versus Cap!
Original Jarvis, as seen in Agent Carter! A TV character coming in to the films! (The only one, though.)
And then Clint and Natasha getting the Soul Stone. We knew going in what the cost would be, they didn’t, and both acquitted themselves perfectly.
Steve is worthy.
A gloriously mad final battle.
A perfect heroic ending for Tony, and the happy ending I always thought Steve and Peggy deserved, which for these versions can stick.
The final sign-off, as seen in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
And no credits scenes. Just the echo of a hammer.
