Star Wars: The Bad Batch
1.08: Reunion
“As they traverse a decommissioned medical facility, the Batch encounter an unexpected threat.”
23 minutes plus credits.
The Batch are still on the scrapyard planet Bracca... and Crosshair is on his way.
(Would it have worked better if we hadn’t known that right away? Hmm.)
After resolving the inhibitor chip issue last week, we get to the mid-season point and the Batch facing off with Crosshair and his new squad.
Wrecker and Omega’s bond is intact, enough that he's teaching her to disarm a bomb.
And the Kaminoans are moving up their plans as well.
Admiral Rampart, “friendly” face of the Empire, orders the Batch wiped out despite the Kaminoan leaders’ requests to capture them because he can’t be bothered listening.
This week’s big action scene has the Batch escaping through the main ion engine of the cruiser... and the Imperials bringing it online.
The episode’s nicest directorial touch has a trooper contacting another, who doesn’t answer - and cut to the other trooper down, starting at the earpiece.
Downed by... someone fans of The Clone Wars might know. And if you don’'t, you can work out what he’s like from context and the shift in the score.
And then another nice touch, a POV shot.
