What If... The Watcher Broke His Oath?

What If... The Watcher Broke His Oath?
What If...? 1.09

“What If the Watcher broke his oath?"

Off the episode 8 “to be continued" moment, the Watcher assembles the “guardians of the multiverse from previous episodes and picking up a couple of surprises, not least the armoured Gamora who hasn’t been in any of the previous episodes (I presume she stars in the episode cut from the original run of ten?) among others.

Captain Carter gets picked up from her version of the start of The Winter Soldier so she’s in a stealth suit complete with grey Union flag emblem. And Batroc picking a fight with the captain so he can brag about how long he lasted and the captain being okay with it is a constant across these similar universes.

Since almost everybody else’s story ended on a cliffhanger, several of them get resolved.

Tony survives an episode! By barely being in it.

Party Thor brings a bit of his genre with him wherever he goes.

The party meets in a pub to get a quest from a mysterious man in the corner.

Love Peggy’s reaction to the multiverse tunnel.

For all that it contributed I could have skipped the zombie episode as I was going to if the finale hadn’t included something from every episode. Small complaint.

An Avengers style long take of everybody fighting, as well as the already revealed shot of them back to back.

Curse Killmonger’s sudden but inevitable betrayal!

Zola gets to be a face on a robot’s stomach!

Ultron-verse Natasha gets to be the one to ask the Watcher how he feels about the worlds he watches. And then gets a Hell Yeah moment.

And stay for the mid-credit scene.
