Disney+ Uber-LARP reality show The Quest has begun, and from a game perspective it has a whole lot of NPCs talking in the setup before getting to the players.
I'd lost interest by the end of the first episode. The extended NPCs expositing to NPCs intro that ran for over half-an-hour would be a dreadful turn-off in an actual RPG.
The kids felt like drama school kids acting as though they were "real kids" and too much of their material felt heavily scripted. The only genuine reactions came during the actual treasure hunt... which was over way too quickly in the context of an hour-long episode.
Overall, it was too much am-dram and not enough "game show".
