1.02: Cut And Run
“The Bad Batch visit an old contact.”
Our first regular episode is twenty-six minutes plus credits. We don’t get the The Clone Wars logo burning away or the newsreel narrator introduction. (We do get a "Skip Intro" button for the three-second intro, after the thirty-second Star Wars intro. This does not seem helpful.)
The Batch reach a planet which has previously appeared in The Clone Wars...
Saleucami, home to Cut Lawquane, the Clone Trooper who deserted and raised a family. Who might naturally know a thing or two about getting away from clone army life. (See The Clone Wars 2.10: The Deserter.)
Omega reacts to the new world like Rey in The Force Awakens:
“Whoa, what is this?”
“That would be dirt.”
“It’s amazing!”
Hunter smiles! Slightly.
Wrecker is having a small existential crisis about instinct versus programming.
Rex was here yesterday!
Tech not getting how much he needs to explain is a recurring bit.
“The Kaminoans don’t create without a purpose.”
The Clone Troopers are still being used for now.
The origin of the chain code, the space Social Security Number, as an Imperial information system. And within days of rollout we have somebody circumventing it.
And we get The Mandalorian bit of wanting to drop the kid off for their own good dealt with in one episode.
