1.05: Rampage
“The Batch strike a deal to take on a mission.”
22 minutes plus credits again, the first one not to be shorter than the week before!
The Batch go to Ord Mantell, something Han Solo never managed in The Empire Strikes Back, the place to investigate why a bounty hunter is after Omega. So they have to take their first outside gig...
Not an obviously morally complicated one, rescuing someone from slavery/ Echo’s happier doing that than getting paid.
Wrecker is still having headaches.
The Batch get caught out by an out-of-context flying lizard problem and it’s up to Omega to save them. She doesn't have to do it on her own and it doesn't go smoothly so it’s not “the kid saves the adults”. She does get a nice little badass moment, as do Hunter and Wrecker, and Tech and Echo get to use their skills and knowledge too.
I particularly like the evil monologue being mostly delivered out of earshot and duly ignored.
Oh, and it’s an origin story for an original trilogy character. Which is kind of sad in retrospect.
(Important correction: That is a different rancor. The AV Club review opens with this reassurance.)
Also, after last week Omega gets a comm and some rules about not wandering off.
“You, dark and broody, my office.”
Guest voices from Critical Role, and Cheers!
