Meat Loaf

Singer and actor Meat Loaf has died, aged 74. Best known for the Bat Out Of Hell album trilogy and enormous singles like I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That) - the trick is that he lists various things he won’t do which are against love - from Bat II, working with Jim Steinman on it and other musical concepts that led to some of the most operatic rock and roll songs produced.

He also acted in places as varied as The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Fight Club.

(He also campaigned for people I would not vote for.)

(He was also the basis for an off-brand cartoon in the early 80s which I only know exists from adverts in comics. It aired a Christmas episode as well as a different episode actually at Christmas. Huh.)

Bat Out Of Hell, which started as part of Steinman’s unmade Peter Pan rock musical Neverland and Steinman later turned into a musical itself, is a gimme urban fantasy concept taken literally, someone escaping from Hell to be with the one they love. See Hell 4 Leather for one way to play it.
