“At first, the app seems like a peculiarly helpful mindfulness assistant, but before long it is controlling Rochelle’s life, an omniscient force able to help her out or terrify her with threatening visions, via the phone’s camera.”
By the end of episode one that’s all been set up, as well as introducing the cast and particularly Rochelle and spotlighting her mixed sympathetic and not-so-much traits, which makes me wonder what else is going to happen in the next seven parts.
After two, I get it.
(Also the music is weirdly mid 2000s. It didn’t make me feel old, which a series about modern teenagers should.)
Update after the finale: Hmm, not sure they stuck the landing after the reveal, played fair I think but the initial hints really did make it feel like it was going another way.
