Having the Sanderson sisters be victims of the Salem witch trials as well as Devil-worshipping broomstick-flying child-eating witches has always been in questionable taste - a fictional town would have been more comfortable - but there we are. They’re total pantomime villains, complete with musical numbers, while the kids facing them are in a lower-key romp. It’s nice to see an early monster role for our modern-day Karloff, Doug Jones. And the CG for the talking cat pretty much works, too.
