Lovecraft Country

Lovecraft Country, a new HBO series adapted from the Matt Ruff book by Jordan Peele and Misha Green (with JJ Abrams as executive producer) has its protagonist dealing with the real horrors of racism in 1950s America as well as horrors from the Mythos.

(Did Chaosium coin the phrase Lovecraft Country for their series of Call Of Cthulhu regional sourcebooks, or was it already in use?)

  1. I have slight concerns over HBO doing this. Yes, they are the only ones funding this kind of thing, but they have already taken three genres that I love, and drained more fun than I though possible out of them (I started and was unable to finish Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire and True Detective) and that is no mean feat! Here's hoping on this project though!

  2. I haven't read this book, but I have heard good things, maybe I'll read that before the show can waste it for me.

Also, 'Lovecraft Country' was coined by Keith Herber, but popularised by Chaosium's range of books on the area (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lovecraft_Country)
