Nocturne session zero

Session zero (mostly) done for Vampire: The Masquerade this academic year. Three players I know and know the game, one I know new to the game, three new to me and to the game. I think it’ll work.

Nocturne is a placeholder-y chronicle name, but I’ve made the logo now so it stays unless a much more thematic title comes along.

The city is home to millions of the living and dozens of the undead.

The Camarilla, the feudal establishment, claims domain here. It holds to its Traditions, especially the Masquerade but the others which support the rule of elder vampires over younger.

The Prince, Daniel Jacobs of clan Ventrue, appears to living society as an investment banker. He has supported the rich and powerful for over a century as a vampire, and almost thirty years as ruler.

His Seneschal, the backroom political fixer Edward Stohler, keeps a lower profile among the living.

Elysium is the small-t tradition of maintaining neutral ground where the Kindred can meet in safety and the Prince can hold court.

The Keeper of Elysium, Danica Branton of clan Toreador, does her best to ensure the long nights are interesting.

Breaking the Traditions draws the attention of the Sheriff, Danica’s broodmate Mae, and her deputies.

The Rack is the other neutral ground, the club row and entertainment district, where Kindred can hunt freely as long as they do so carefully. The Harpies Colette and Laurence keep an eye on the biggest clubs and decide which ones will still be around next time a style magazine does a feature on the city.

The prince also has advisers from other Camarilla clans, including the Tremere Regent Melise and the Nosferatu spymaster “Mason”.

Other factions in the city include the Anarchs by action and by default where you are most likely to find the Brujah and Gangrel, a handful of other tolerated outsiders, the occult scholars of the Church of Caine, and the carefully neutral blood suppliers of the Circulatory System.

And there are those no-one welcomes...
