Us

Jordan Peele’s Us was quite a thing.

It certainly works as a lead-in for his Twilight Zone revival. (He references an episode, Mirror Image.)

And a source of Halloween costumes!

The buildup and the initial attack on the Wilsons is easily the scariest part of the film, with the doppelgangers as uncanny and disturbing and a real sense of threat in a classic home-invasion with a possibly unnatural twist.

Once it gets past that it gets bigger and broader, the Weird Level rising as it goes. Most of the humour comes out in this later section too, including two of the three biggest laughs at the screening I saw - the biggest in the first half is in the tensest scene.

I always thought that song Les Fleur was creepy.
