V5: Stolen 2.02

Beck
Robin
Vince

A week passes and no apparent repercussions.

Beck watches the audience at his sermons.

Robin observes his family from a distance - not sure about this girl his son has started seeing.

Vince looks into the antiquarian book trade after Beck mentioned it.

He next sees Beck at Elysium, one of the smaller locations in a private art gallery. Noting Astor is there as well, he keeps his distance as they discuss business.

“Has there been any movement on my order? Time waits for no man.”
“Yes, I did hear you had some urgent business?”

Beck and Astor size each other up.

--

And at the same time, Robin is looking for a deserving victim when approached by Morland.

He doesn’t pry too much, as a professional courtesy. Just enough to suspect that Robin genuinely doesn’t know what happened at the end of the night. And to make Robin wary.

--

Vince talks with Colette and Laurence about weekend plans and the next major Elysium. He also follows Laurence’s gaze to a couple keeping an eye on Beck as he makes his rounds.

Then Robin enters, looking around warily.

He is the first of the group to notice Burke, Nosferatu spymaster, watching the door.

Vince gets Beck’s attention and he joins them.

“Good evening, childe.”
“I’m not a childe.”
“We are all childer in the eyes of Caine.”

Vince hangs back and keeps track of the couple, as well as Astor.

“Something I have to tell you.”
“If I can lift your burden?”
“Someone asking about a child in danger.”

Beck segues to making this sound like a sermon.

“And about that favour. About my sire.”
“The Embrace can be daunting, but brings great gifts. Do you question why you were chosen?”

Robin asks Beck if his Camarilla contacts can find out about his sire, Beverley Beaufort.

As he hands Beck a phone number on a scrap of paper, Robin notices Burke recognising the name.

Vince sees an opportunity and asks about his as well, Dr. Statton. Then steps away to approach the couple who have been openly eavesdropping.

They call themselves Drake and Samara. Samara admits she took the Embrace as a chance to reinvent herself. He asks why they’re curious about the Reverend.

“I didn’t believe much of anything before.”
“A change like this will do that.”

On the way out, Robin approaches Burke. He gives him an address for a chop shop run by a gang who might know, in exchange for a promise to let him know if he finds Beverley.

“Could you tell me more?”
“Of course...”

Now that Burke can be seen, Vince approaches him as well.

“I hear you’re good at finding people.”
“So I’m told.”
“I’m looking for my sire, Elijah Statton, a lecturer in philosophy...”

As he leaves, Beck notices Drake and Samara still observing...
