S.A.S. Rogue Heroes is a new series from the creator of
Peaky Blinders and oh boy does it show. Adapted from real research (covered in a documentary series reshowing after it which has already flagged up some dramatic inaccuracies) it features period and non-period music, shaky history, a fistfighting poet with a moustache, and a ghostly father turning up.
The “rogue” part of the title refers to the S.A.S. being created ad hoc for commando missions with little oversight, had to steal a lot of their equipment and catch lifts from desert reconnaissance scouts, and generally acted like the kind of special forces that player characters tend to end up being in war-based campaigns.
