This now Legends comic series didn’t actually go as far back as their origin, adding some mysteries as well as leaving questions unanswered. Which, fine, mysterious mystical thing, not sure it needed more though.
But anyhoo, got me thinking about why Jedi discipline in particular, as it’s hard for humans and easier for long-lived and less excitable Yoda types, so maybe they were early adopters.
And maybe the first humans were among those figuring out lightsabers as they’d need a weapon, and a weapon that can cut anything else needs focus and skill and is not to be used lightly. And the design that it doesn’t have to be sheathed but simply disappears when not in us...
