11V: WILDERNESS

Wilderness in the Darkness family of games mostly means werewolves. Since I’m not really a fan of crossover, what else can I do with this prompt?

As noted in my main post, urban settings still have out of the way areas, particularly suited to games where characters have to act in secret. I’ve already mentioned Nosferatu underground realms, and vampires have a variety of territories where they can relax the Masquerade and get down to business.

From Still by Patrick Joust

But even without werewolves, leaving the city brings its own hazards. Where can you find blood? Where can you sleep? Whose territory are you trespassing in? And what else is out there in the night?

See Near Dark for how one change can complicate things for even the most practiced nomads.

1.11: Wrong Side Of The Tracks

An Anarch meeting across town, and Shane is already grimly joking about how this could end up like The Warriors before they leave. It doesn’t go quite that badly, but does end with the coterie having to scatter and get through the Barrens and back to Nocturne without their car. This could be played as a classic chase, or could be an eerie voyage through empty streets to play up how strange and sinister the city can be, complete with creepy street art in place of creepy scarecrows.
